    This blend was conceived of by local chief and restaurant owner, Jim Cohen. In addition to being an avid coffee lover and loyal Boxcar Coffee fan, Jim is a James Beard nominated chief and owner of the Empire Restaurant and Lounge in Louisville, and Pizzeria Da Lupo in Boulder. When coffee harvest seasons change, together with Jim, we select the right coffees for the Empire Blend. The result is a perfect balance all year round.   • Brazil Daterra Sweet Yellow

    Daterra is one of the most advanced farms in the world. They continually work to improve cup quality and sustainable practices. It’s Sustainable Coffee Program preserves the Eco-Social System around its plantations which are surrounded by native trees and wildlife. The coffee is prepared with the state-of-the-art “Penta System” which Daterra developed. Great as espresso, or brewed coffee. Flavor: The aroma is caramel/molasses and cinnamon toast. The cup has amazing balance. There is a very intriguing savory sweetness to this coffee and the finish is somewhere between malt and brown sugar.
